About

Monument Cemetery is a non-profit, non-denominational cemetery which has served the local area for over 157 years.

Prior to our charter in 1865, the cemetery was known as “Beverly Township Cemetery”. In 1865, the cemetery was organized by a Board of Trustees and the name was changed to “Monument Cemetery Association”.

Over the years, the cemetery grounds have grown to what they are today.

A home for the caretaker at the time was built in 1870 (which was later torn down), and the stone wall was built in approximately 1888. Additional land was purchased by the Board of Trustees in the early 1900’s. The historic chapel was built and finished in 1920, the current home that houses the Cemetery office was built in 1928. Along with other changes and additions to the Cemetery, the Chapel was restored and reopened in 2015.
